Recorded Proceedings

The Maricopa County Justice Courts contract with For The Record to capture and archive recordings that take place in our courtrooms. The company's online platform- Express Access- is how customers can place orders to easily and quickly view those recordings. 

To request to view a recording, you will need to create an account with FTR. Once you place an order, our court staff will review it and make any necessary changes to the date, time, and court location, and then approve or deny the order. 

The most common reasons for a denial are that the case is sealed or that the hearing or other proceeding did not take place inside the courtroom and was not recorded. You will receive an explanation when the clerk cancels the order or asks you for more information.

When the clerk approves a request, you will receive an email with a link where you will be able to view the streaming video in your internet browser. We no longer provide recordings on a CD or as downloadable media.

While viewing the proceeding is free, Express Access also offers a Speech-to-Text add-on for $1.00 per minute. This optional feature adds AI-generated text to the video stream. This allows a user to search a requested recording for specific words to quickly find what they need. FTR collects any fees you choose to pay, and the Justice Courts cannot facilitate refunds if you mistakenly enter your credit card number and pay for an order.

Please know that Speech-to-Text cannot be used as an official transcript. The Justice Courts do not provide transcripts. Please contact a court-approved transcription company, which will then request the video and do your transcription for a fee. See the list here
